No need to ask, for sure residents will take advantage of these.
A free bus which will run till end of December 2008, who wouldn’t take this free ride in this kind of weather and economy? Most of residents who took the free ride said that they were happy and got a big break from the anxiety of long wait for taxis on the streets.
Last weekend, my sister and I decided to try the free bus going to Mall. Wow, the bus was so clean, free from bad smell and you don’t have to wait for long. The government decision to give 6 months free rides is a big encouragement to the people especially today with the increasing cost of living. At least, the government still think on the welfare of the people here. I just hope they will add more routes, as of today they only have 4 routes within the city.
Next update, my upcoming adventure…
To all my blogging friends:
Though I rarely visit your blogs, this does not mean that I neglected you. Life here became so hard that I need to work hard and give time to some other activities. Time will come that I will become active again. I’m just waiting to get settle to a new house.
Life in UAE:
If you think UAE does not get affected by the current economic recession, think again. WE ARE AFFECTED. I’m sick and tired of whining from everyone, I got affected too! What to do! We are expats here, so if you think you can’t continue living here then go home! I just carry on living and move with the wind. That’s life!
As much as possible I wanted to avoid June post. Though it’s been two years since he left me, I still miss him. I’m avoiding every father that i knew here to greet and I’m trying to stay away from malls because of banners and other confetti’s stuff they decorated on their shops, but when I heard this song from one of the scholars of PDA, I cried. Here’s the song.
Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me and then
Spend me around till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure I was lovedChorus:
If I could get another chance
Another walk, another dance with him
I’d play a song that would never ever end
How I’d love love love to dance with my father againVerse 2:
When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way I would run from her to him
He’d make me laugh just to comfort me(yeah, yeah)
Then finally make me do just what my momma said
Later that night, when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me
Chorus:
If I could steal
One final glance
One final step
One final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never ever end
Cause I’d love love love to dance with my father again.
Sigh!!!
tsk! tsk! tsk!

Yeah, it’s true, my title is correct.
I was shocked when I read from the local news paper that books are being burnt, destroyed and deliberately tear none other than the students here. It was so disgraceful destroying books and what made me cry more, the students is destroying their own textbooks or some academic materials to celebrate the end of academic year.
I don’t know what enter into their minds undertaking that immoral act. What the hell their parents doing? Must we blame the students for those horrific acts or we might as well blame the parents? Parents should teach their children how to take care of their books. If they think that it has no use anymore, they might as well donate it.
It’s a good thing that the Dubai Ministry of Education do some actions regarding those students. I really couldn’t fight my emotion. I love books and I take care of them.
Some excerpts from the news
In Canada, they refund the pupils when they return the books and in UK they tend to recycle.
In Philippines, we give it to charity or sell them to other students or we go to Recto for book exchange. Got it!!!

A blessed special day to my Mom, to all my blogging Mom-friends and to all Mother’s in the world.

Summer time once again in the desert, humidity and temperature starts to rise. My enthusiasm to jog is over. I would rather stay inside rather than scorch in the sun or argue with high-blood people.
So I delve on my boxes and look for my new books. I purchased 4 books of Bob Ong during my vacation back home, another 2 suspense books and I received my Christmas present book from Cess (thanks Cess).
An added hobby, Origami. I started with Stars. It’s cute and could be an instant display in the room.
Or another laid-back hobby, PSP. Yes, i’m addicted now.
See I’m lazy once again.

I really had fun at CDO. Sadly, I only spent 3 days there and mind you, it is not enough to explore the place.
The moment the airplane touches down at the airport, I was really impressed at the place. A typical provincial life, fresh air and dew drop. I was lucky at that time to experience the warm weather and rain.
Sharize, Tita Bek-bek, Shermay and Jeff played important factor why I had an enjoyable vacation at CDO. My friend here Sharize got in touch with her mom, Tita Bek-bek (from zamboanga) who booked me an earlier flight for CDO. Imagine, last week of January when I received my eTiket for CDO and I don’t have a confirmed flight for Philippines yet…hehehe. Sharize also called her friend Shermay and Jeff. Jeff arranged my hotel accommodation and Shermay informed Manong (their family driver) about my flight. What a great relief on my part.
On water rafting, after a backbreaking 3 hours paddling, I was so tired and hungry. Our guide promised that’s there’s a mouth watering food at the restaurant on our end point. Good enough, it’s so hmmm……deliciosooooo, muy bien!
After 2 hours of resting, I met Shermay and Jeff for dinner. This couple was so nice. If not for them, maybe my solo-flight vacation will not be an exciting one. To Jeff and Shermay, thank you so much for the hospitality.
After dinner and jazz bar escapade, the couple dropped me off at my accommodation. Due to exhaustion, I almost fell off from the bed waiting for the group whom I joined with on rafting. I promised them that I will burn a copy of our pictures. We met at Chizum’s Checkpoint Bar. It’s a nice place, totally designed for sports enthusiast but bad for me coz the bar is a non-smoking place…hahaha, how could I drink without smoking. I’d pass out for sure so I decided to call it a night to the group and headed back to my accommodation.
The next day, I joined Skybridge and Zipline adventure at macahambus cave. This time I was alone but Joel and the other guide joined me as my photographers… hehehe. Even for a short and no adrenalin pumping adventure a.k.a Tarzan style adventure, it’s still awesome.

I was supposed to post my CDO part 2 adventure but another incident hit the emirates and I decided to post this news first coz another Pinoy died on the said incident.
One of my newly acquired habits every morning while on my way to my work is to tune-in to the radio while playing on my psp. I was stunned when I heard that there was a big fire going on in Al Quoz industrial area in Dubai. The shocking thing was that the DJ commented that there was a big explosion and thick black smoke engulfed the area. I thought war hit the emirates. Then as soon as I reached the office, I checked gulf news online and read it.
Check the photos (from gulfnews.com) and see for yourself why people near in the area got shaken.

Then late afternoon, I received an email warning all the residents to keep out from the area or going to Dubai because the aftermath of the fire was the toxins spreading in the air. I immediately called my brother coz I knew he’s on the way to the airport. Thank God that he was in abu dhabi airport safely. What surprises me – there was no news or warning from the authority regarding these issue only preventing people coming to the area.
The saddest part was one kababayan died on that incident. A 29-year old Filipino dies after being hit by flying debris. I was saddened on this news.
My condolences to his family.
What an irony, 2 accidents in a month
